Our story began in 2024 when our parent company, ThirdWell Commodities, was officially accredited as an "Inclusive Business" by the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) as part of the Inclusive Business Initiative in Ghana. As we celebrated being officially and nationally recognised as an 'Inclusive Business', the obvious question was 'what next?'. Official accreditation unearthed and recognised commercially viable SMEs driving real impact measured in income increase and improved living standards of BoPs. However, it did not solve any of the pertinent challenges faced by the SMEs accredited as Inclusive Businesses.
We believe that having identified businesses driving real impact, the next critical step is to scaleup these businesses to enable them scale their impact and drive systemic change.
Our story is thus anchored on the conviction that 'More Inclusive Business means More Sustainable Impact! More inclusive business and more sustainable impact can only be achieved if inclusive businesses scale-up and achieve sustainable growth in the long-term.
Whist there are many SME development programs and initiatives, they mostly focus on capacity building without necessarily offering the real hand-holding and transformative journey and financing that is most needed by SMEs.
Our solution to this challenge is the creation of a holistic, coherent and well-coordinated system that offers quality business services to prepare SMEs for financing; secures financing for SMEs; and manages SME-financier relationships to ensure satisfactory outcome for both SMEs and financiers.
Drawing on our collective experience of over 60 years, we have created ThirdWell Inclusive Business Centre (IBC) as a unique institution in the SME development space that focuses entirely on offering quality business services; access to financing; SME-financier relationship management; and monitoring of financing to prevent losses. In essence IBC is a one-stop business services centre and an eco-system manager ensuring a win-win partnership between SMEs, business services providers, development agencies, and financiers.
This is our story. Lets tell it together!
